Best way to remove paint over anodised parts?

Hey guys, I'm about to strip my friends old Orange Prestige and in the late 90's he decided to paint the purple anodised parts black! As you can imagine I'm not keeping them that way.

I need to remove the paint on the USE bar ends, wheels qr's and crank caps. What would you suggest to use that won't damage the anodising?

I would have thought you'd be safe soaking the bits in a solvent, thinners, petrol, etc what you must not use is any paint stripper or anything containing caustic soda, that will damage / remove the anodising and also damage the aluminium.

Thank you, I was going to steal some of the boss's nail varnish and try a little unseen section. It's going to take some work though as he really slapped it on :facepalm:

I might be out of date here, but nail varnish remover used to be acetone, so worth a try.

Might be worth just leaving a scrap piece of alloy in some remover over night. I doubt it will have any effect on the alloy, but just to be sure. If it is OK, then I'd just leave the parts to soak in the solvent and really let it get into the paint.

Just do not inhale and do not touch with bare hands

Paint stripper is fine on anodising, well starchem synstryp is. But test it first.
I have stripped paint off anodised hose fittings with synstyp.

I think that suitable paint stripper would be much easier to work with compared to acetone. I used acetone on the linked frame mainly because I already had that stuff and it seemed to work.
