They came in a few different colours: black brown, green, I've even seen an orange and a blue one but I think that was for a specific bike manufacturer, Motobecane.

Quality pedal spanner - Pedro's, cyclo, fat spanner - and a blowtorch.
The alloy arm will expand much more than the pedal stud.
