Best Tools I Ever Bought

Got to be this selection of Campagnolo tools. I've got these and the Campagnolo headset facer/reamer and a VAR tool #30 for removing the fixed cup. Can spanner just about any vintage bike with this lot! The Campagnolo tools have paid for themselves a hundred times over. Virtually indestructible.

What's yours?

That fixed cup tool is brilliant, I would definitely have one for home if I could get one cheap enough to justify it.
It normally comes with three different bits, for French, Italian and British cups. Sometimes you can pick them up for under a ton on the bay. Even the most stubborn cups come out with a bit of effort.

I used to use one of those VAR fixed cup tools, it also had an insert that allowed it to fit Raleigh style cups.
I've a similar collection of Campagnolo tools along with a VAR adjustable peg spanner (because the Campagnolo pins are more fragile than a fragile thing) but my best (and most used) tool I didn't buy, it's a spoke key that was made for me by a friend who worked as a fitter for ICI in Middlesbrough.
My other half thinks that I have tool fetish as I won't turn down any that are offered to me. It's not a fetish, I don't reject them because you never know what gems you might find mixed in with the rubbish. Some years back a neighbour who was clearing his garage offered me some random tools which included a custom boxed tap and die set, closer examination of which showed it to contain a number of cycle-specific pieces such as 9/16"x20 taps and dies, both right and left thread.

When I first got into fixing bikes I was advised by someone much wiser than me that you should always use the right tool for the job. And with a bit of experience behind me I’d add to that that you should also use the best quality tools available. So these are the best tools I ever bought. Worth every penny of the many pennies it cost.
