I'm looking for some recommendations.

I need a set of tyres that works well on the road but can also handle some light trail riding (I say trail, basically gravel paths and maybe a little mud and the like).

What do you guys prefer. There is so much choice in the market I really cannot decide.

Cheers.

I've got a pair of Schwalbe Hurricane, they have a smooth, road friendly centre and some knobbly bits on the outside that I find handle all the conditions you mention.

Something like these might be worth a look, very quick on the road, great on dry and damp towpaths. Bit low braking grip on the rear on wet roads but cracking value for money and not too heavy. 650 grams or so.

Panaracer Fire XC Pro 1.8's work very well for me - fast on road and amazing off road considering that they have such small knobbles.

I have Maxxis Larsen TT's on my bike and I ride to work everyday on it and ride every wednesday, sat & sunday on them. They are fast on the road and off road.
I have the 2.0's but next time I'll go back to the 1.9's.

I have these and they're actually not bad :?

I've got a set of continental doublefighter 2's and have got nothing but good things to say about them so far, although I've only used them on the road so far, not badly priced either
