The Wrights saddles I liked but the leather seemed inferior somehow to brooks
Brooks bought Wrights and after that apparently the leather was "inferior" in some way - presumably so Brooks was the premier mark.
Before that apparently they were roughly equivalent.

My Wrights have 4mm leather vs 5mm for Brooks.
In theory the Brooks will last longer, but given my Wrights are already over 50 years old I won't live long enough to see any difference.
There's also a possibility they will break in a bit faster.

Wrights saddles date back to the early part of the 20th Century, in 1962 became part of the Brooks~ Sturmey Archer~ Raleigh empire. Under Brooks they were considered as the second tier line but exhibited classic British workmanship and gave many miles of use to their owners.

At the Olympia Cycling Show of November 1948 J B Brooks launched a new range of lightweight saddles catalogued as ‘Lightweight Champions’

The range comprised 4 new ‘Champion’ saddles with aluminium cantle plates and stainless steel wires. They were claimed to be up to 40% lighter than their all steel frame B.17 equivalents.
