Hello.
I’m going to out on a limb here and will probably regret starting this, but two simple questions.

Best Era For Retro MTB (5 years)?

Best Bike ? (Picture must be added or vote doesn’t count)

I’m going to start the ball rolling and show how little I know and say ;

1992 - 1997
Kona Hei Hei

Don't know if it's just because of the nostagia or because it was the time of when I getting into MTBing....but I will always remember the first time I saw a Klien Attitude around 1991-92 in my local shop. I will always remember those beefy aluminum forks and the Campy grip shifters. Also, that same shop had a Titanium Merlin and an Aqua-fade Yo eddy. Those were the days!

1990 - 1995

Spent pretty much every weekend either riding or racing in the early 90s...it was was life was about and I had all the time in the world. Halcyon days!

Bike wise has to be either the Klein Attitude (dolomite colors) or Kona Hei Hei.

The Team Comp in that photo might be one of the nicest bikes I've ever seen.

FAT CITY CYCLES made their final and best Team Comp model in 89. The frame was a custom mix of the best and lightest tubing available including Dillsburg Aircraft certified used for the rear triangle. The same as on a Yeti FRO. It has GP Wilson dropouts and all TCs were tig welded by Scott Bengtson Aka I-ROBOT. The first thing i noticed when i got mine was the almost invisible tig welds joining the tubes and the light weight compared to a typical Far East made bike. These were ~ 3X the price of a Wicked at the time. I worked in the trade and had the good fortune to test ride a lot of the finest steel and alu bikes available at the time and certainly since. Sure a Klein, Yeti or a Yo Eddy of this era has more presence but for me its always been about the ride. All these design features make this still imo the best steel bike ever made. The F40 in car terms.
