I’m amazed it’s lasted this long without being crashed. The brakes always were more of an aspirational request to slow down at best, but to put the shifter right in the way of the leaver seems madness.

Quite a common position on older drops with an SA shifter. That said it looks more in the way than usual. Usually rotated inwards.
The brakes in name only planning permission required
