We've got a law about pedal reflectors, but I block it from my conscious mind

I don't get the hate for reflectors, I like them and think they look great.

They go great with Monster Munch Spokey Dokeys, I'm off to eBay right now for some bling

What about these Raleigh bikes from the future?
Wilcat, Wolfcub and Vektar, were there others too and were they just bikes they already sold but with extra bits added (I'm guessing they were)?

Had friends who owned Wilcats, I never wanted to own one and after a while most people in my area had removed all the plastic.










So not the best bike ever, after a couple of weeks most people I knew were bored of them and the novelty had worn off. Probably sold well though as I remember quite a few knocking around, Wildcats anyway.

Thanks for the photos @Totoro

Frames for the Vektar were based on the Burners of the time. However the forks were taller to allow room for the front mudguard. Same for the Wildcat. On the second photo with the Wildcat you can see the huge amount of clearance between the top of the tyre and underside of the unicrown.

Also it looks like the Vektar had some crazy trail on the forks too - look at the size of the triangular dropout on the first photo!

Also they shared many parts and components too such as mag wheels, cranks, grips, pedals etc. But developed specific components (what I call key touchpoints because of my line of work!) such as saddle and brake levers to give the bike a more bespoke and futuristic look and feel.

Saddle was bespoke with a more angular modern profile along with cut-in grooves which were a classic industrial design detail of the time. Brake levers had plastic/resin levers as these could be made more angular/futuristic cheaply vs. achieving this aesthetic in metal.

This is when style/desirability won over functionality, but us kids didn't care! It felt like the future had just landed...
