The Qualcast wasn't abandoned. For a while my mum still mowed our lawns with a push mower. It looks battered because we also used to ride over it on our bikes! Not sure what the jump was made from but you can see we used a rubber door mat to try and fill in whatever that metal orange construction was. Tennis racket was still being used and there's also a cricket bat on the floor. My parents had x4 boys so the garden got a hammering with all sorts of games going on.Still got 4 pages to catch up on, but that *is* the best retrobike picture ever. Qualcast abandoned? Squash/tennis? racquet in the border; doing a stunt. It’s like my memory distilled into a moment.
(We used to play tennis on the road, and would call “CAR!” When one came round the corner [cf Wayne’s World])

Whilst my parents were out we convinced the babysitter that our parents allowed us put on engine oil on the grass so we could do longer skids on our bikes. So cue x4 boys riding as fast as they could and skidding for as long as possible. We were in pyjama's and bare feet at the time!
And yes, we got a HUGE bollocking in the morning regarding the decimated grass.We lived on a main road in a village, but luckily we had a green behind us for playing football, rugby, tennis etc. which we could get onto over the back fence. However we did used to like to play "blind catch" which involved throwing a tennis ball over the roof of the house to each other. One of us in the back garden, the other hoovering in the middle of the road keeping an ear out for cars and an eye out for a tennis ball flying over the roof!
