Best bike ever!

I thought that Raleigh made bikes in Canada because we had import tarrifs on bikes to protect the domestic market (read CCM). That's why Sekine started making bikes in Canada. I think Peugeot made bikes here as well in the 80's. Raleighs were such good value back then I recommended one to a former boss for his daughter.

What size Serengetti do you want? I've seen that model for sale here in Vancouver in the past.

Raleighs were made in Canada or just assembled at first later produced. You can actually tell the difference by the fender Canadian ones don't have the whitetail

Here is a link to some history about Sekine's operations in Canada. It mentions tarrifs as a factor for locating manufacturing here. I believe there was some Federal subsidies that encouraged the factory to be located on the FN lands / FN people to be hired to build the bikes.
