Bent rear hanger or are my eyes that bad!

Hi all, I’ve recently brought a Bianchi Specialissima Sante frame set, I’ve just gone and fitted a 126mm campag wheel and I’m not sure if the rear hanger is bent or not ? Thought ill ask the question on here before carrying on with the build I’ve also noticed that the wheel is slightly out with the brake bridge ? The tubing is Columbus SLX.

Looks slightly bent but you really need to picture it centred in the camera view. To move the wheel, adjust the little set screws in the dropout.

teeny tiny bit bent, easily sorted with an adjustable spanner - with the wheel in

It's always hard to check the wheel, easiest is to flip it and put it in the wrong way round. It will be obvious if the misalignment has reversed (wheel dish) or not (tracking error in the frame).

In the 2nd photo you can actually see 1.370" x 24 t.p.i BSC between the gear block and rear hub flange!

You can alway eye ball it......or you're of a Heath robinson disposition easily make you own version of this tool.

My version was made with a flat metal bar hole 10mm hole at one end, a long m10 bolt and some nuts and washers one to nip up against the hanger the other two to center the bar and let it swing round the wheel, for measuring the hanger I just use a metal vernier.

A seldom used tool, but actually pretty useful when it comes out!

Quick and easy trick.... put a back wheel on as normal then thread a quick release wheel onto the hanger....line up against a wheel fitted ...see if they are parallel.... it'll tell you if its bent vertically and horizontally.... and then using the wheel in the hanger you can gain leverage to line them up....its rudimentary but it'll work and with so few gears it doesn't have to be mm perfect to get you rolling until the correct tool is used...
