Morning all,
If like me, you have been subjecting your offspring to the B-boys since their first car ride, don’t be surprised if you hear them playing music which when you walk past their room you might just mistake for previously unreleased Beasties.
Instead it’s likely to be a dueo from LA called Joey Vallance & Brae. They are unashamedly Beastie super fans.
Ps, guess which teenage musician/artist is collaborating with them? (Super proud Dad right here! )
Just had a listen to the first couple of tracks there. They are unashamedly very Beasties influenced indeed. That song Crank It Up is totally Ch-Check It Out, with the Star Trek references and everything. They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery!
I am amazed by the fact that you are having even a Beastie Boys topic right here.
Addictive site.
Started as a teenage punk/metalhead, they were the first to infiltrate hiphop to my listenings. Alongside Cypress Hill. Also came Prodigy to widen my musical horizon.
Beastie Boys had a legendary performance in a cultic underground club bitd here. Unfortunately i was unable to find footage.
Later i realised how educational their musicianship is. They were standing on the shoulders of giants, or we can say they knew where to shop. Really good taste in music. Also very high level paying credits to sg like this, without ruining it.
