Barn find zaskar now oranges helping neighbour

We reached a compromise as she needs bikes for her children and apparently has more in the barn. I visit and select the best and se others as donors. I wonder how many……….
So if I've got this right, she's swapping her children for bikes, she keeps them all in the barn, and you're harvesting them for spares?
Fair enough.Could use some more lungs if there's any going?🫁👍Still developing my bio-degradeable soft helmet.
As for fixing Mother Hubbard's bike,it's certainly the downside of a generous, helpful nature.Always find it disappointing when it's not appreciated.Often by those that wouldn't have a clue.
But when you're that kind of person, even if you get burnt, there's a fair chance you'll be doing exactly the same for another candidate as soon as this one fades from memory I'm sure.
Otherwise you wouldn't sleep at night, and would probably spend the early hours making up jokes!😉

She was so pleased I’ve got another commission. Refurb the oranges with barn bits.

seat tube removal attempt involves hammering it down into the frame until it tore the rivnut. Then she used heat. Poor thing.

New 27.0 post and clamp. Replace dx rear mech cable adjuster and tap thread. Replace front mech clamp bolt for proper one rather than slot head screw rear mech chain stay cable outer replaced. Touch up missing paint on front forks 81268BA6-3103-476A-B53B-96DF306652EF.jpeg

Great work 😀

Although it often hurts,I have done many ‘rescue a friend’ jobs. Our postie is brilliant, and she looks after us well. The bike she asked me to ‘service’ required sledgehammer tactics re chainset and BB, dire effort re rusted stem and seatpost, etc etc. All in all about two weekends and 250 gbp of parts - and it was essential that I did it gratis to say thanks for all the work she puts in for the village, day after day. Far more in bits than the bike was worth, but then what price goodwill and human care? Saves the planet, creates community. Well worth it.

This is somebody from nearby house i'd never met until she knocked on the door asking about bike repairs. I said i'd be charging for this one after the car crash that was the zaskar. Again, everything needed cleaning, missing bits sourcing from spares boxes, setting up and greasing. about seven hours total for both bikes. If I said £50 plus the parts i'd be under minimum wage.
