Bar ends yay or nay?

Bar ends are Crocs for bikes. Ask anyone who wears Crocs, why they wear Crocs and the same answer will be applicable to bar ends
Except Crocs on their own offer no function or improvement. It's like if you had regular shoes, and an extra pair of Crocs, for the additional comfortable foot position, and you don't care how you look when they're tied around your neck

Additionally I've made journeys of over 1000 miles on bar ends.

Find me a Croc- wearer who's been more than 1000 yards from his VW van in his crocs😉

If I was in the market for brakes I could reach from my bar ends I'd just fit a second pair of hydraulic levers to the bar ends and plumb them into the standard brakes via a double banjo bolt
Hydraulics? Extra levers? Banjos? And bar ends?! I need to see your "retro bike". That fix you suggest seems like an overly complex solution to a thing resolved decades ago with beautiful simplicity 66cb1a91-bd34-46c9-bc21-48cb0a02227f.jpeg

Yeah but they don't work with hydraulic brakes which would be a total show stopper for me. You can have my Hope brakes when you pry them from my cold dead hands.

I must admit those are very pretty though, Mmmm Anodized purple Mmmm, I'd forgotten they ever existed, much nicer than bolt-on additions to regular levers.

100% honesty: I don't expect I'll use them either. I mostly bought them to show them in this thread. But they'd be more likely to appear on my retro mountain bike than a set of disks.
