Bar ends on carbon bars?

I've got a nice pair of flat carbon bars on the way. I like to use bar ends as I find them really comfortable when climbing out of the saddle. Am I going to have any issues using bar ends on carbon bars? Would it be advantagous to use bar end plugs? Am I making a mountain out of a molehill

Hmm, I'd say depending on the bar. Some feather-light ones would probably be unadvisable to use with bar-ends. I think using a well-fitting end plug and bar-ends with a wide clamp would be a good idea too. If you crash though I reckon you'll damage the bar for sure.

Ritchey do a mini-torque wrech for thier carbon products, if you haven't got a torque wrench that measures inch-pounds then maybe it'd be a good idea to buy one.

If you want to be sure, put in a carbon bar specific bar end. You never can be sure enough!

Just an idea.

Find a local engineering form and have them knock up some thin tubular insetrs to go in the end of the bar. This will prevent the bar from crushing when you do up the clamp on the barends.
