Re:

Hi
Thanks for reply
I have contacted Trevor Jarvis and his proteje Jeremy said that Trevor Jarvis parts
Do not fit the original flying gate ! !
John.

Have a look at bike jumbles for the chainset and bits, should be fairly cheap. I would expect a Williams chainset for under £30.

Re:

Before spending anything, your first problem is the headset. Those cast lugs were rarely used after the late 1940s, and were fitted with loose bearing rings, probably 1/8 inch balls, with the bearings in shear, not like the more modern cup and cone.
Commonly used on millions of cheap roadster bikes other than Raleigh.
See if you can find a scrap old frame with the forks in it so that you can see if the bits fit. You may find that you will have to get them made. The top screwed race was normally 1inch by 24 tpi, and the crown race was just pressed on.

The original forks could have had a headclip.

Hi Shaun, looks like part of the casting to me, the owner will no doubt be able to confirm this.

This is back in my era.

Re:

Re. Crown race / Clip Head set / Bearing . I can supply you with all these for this frame at a sensible price. pm me for more info if you are interested .

Hi guys if I take a close up of head will you be able to tell what I may need
I really am a novice at this
What I can tell you is there are curves on top and bottom of head tube that look like
Bearing cups ?
I am getting an old luxus frame with brakes forks and handlebars on it for a tenner
Just to see if anything fits
Thanks again to you all
John.
