Bad News: eBay removes non eBay shipping for private sellers!

From 15th April 2025, eBay is introducing a new shipping system called Simple Delivery. For private sellers, this will become the only way to send parcels* — and means you won’t be able to use your own couriers outside of eBay’s platform.

'Simple' generally means more complicated, less flexible and more revenue for eBay. It's really about time eBay had some competition. A Vinted for bikes and components? Could be a good earner for some tech skilled cycling geeks.

FFS, that is so annoying, the RM click and drop platform is really easy to integrate and then they come and collect your parcels so you don't have to take them to the post office. Nice one eBay, two steps forward, three steps back.

Can't help but thinking it's a foretelling of big changes on account of the Great Orange Tariff Monger. A few of our American trading partners have pulled out of Europe altogether this year. Even if negotiations do settle between 10-25%, if there's reciprocating tariffs from Europe and the UK, some big players might just not bother anymore.

I do not see calm waters ahead!

I’ve been able to bypass this by selecting buyer pay for postage when setting up the listing. That way you’ve more control over who to use. Sold forks yesterday but the “simple” system only gave new yodel or parcelforce with no option to up compensation to cover purchase price. Said DPD wouldn’t quote. Purchased DPD myself for less than their quotes even with enhanced compensation.

As ever it's down to control and profit, wrapped up in a bundle called 'better for the customer'. Yodel is absolutely useless and about half the parcels sent through them don't make it up here, the same with Herpes/Lose 'evry' parcel. Parcel Force, DPD and RM are by far and away the most reliable, not that eBay cares.

Just had a delivery change itself from 25th April to 1st May, whilst another was pumped from 19th to 23rd with a bogus delivery attempt between.. Complete crapola.
