Back in time.. 1995 GT Avalanche

Re:

Update :)

Finished and ready for a first spin.

Took it along one of the local trails that is still under construction, but provided a very nice ride nonetheless. This particular trail used to be more of an XC-type of ride: broad and straight on trails, frequently going up and down quite a bit (for Dutch standards..) and are now slowly transforming into very curvy singletracks that almost make it feel like a roller coaster.
Nice, but pretty exhausting on a retro hardtail. The trails are very popular and have been ridden a lot recently, also in bad weather, which has affected the rideability. I guess this is less of an issue on a full-sus big wheeler, although my physical condition might also be to blame, coming out of winter ;)

Overall, a very nice renewed introduction!

:D

That’s a lovely example. Always had a soft spot for the polished aluminium GTs. The best era for GTs in my opinion. Good work!

Took the ol' Avalanche out for a spin today.. :D

It was rainy this morning and there is a park close to my house where I run regularly, some on, but mostly off, road with some altitude differences. So, since it was quiet in the park due to the weather, I rode my 5k running lap 6 times on the bike. Sharp turns, short, steep climbs, stretches of grass and some (slippery..!!) bike paths: great fun!

Hi Dan!
How cool: (twin?) brothers..! The similarity between our bikes are striking :).
Thanks for sharing: do you have a build thread for it too?

Translation: After a long wait and searching, I have found my childhood dream again: A polished GT Avalanche from the era 95-97!
The previous owner started the rebuilding very well, unfortunately a frame size too small, and I am continuing with his work!
Official act today: 97 he Rock Shox Judy XC in black. Many thanks to Steven for taking it from his '97 RockyMountain Blizzard!
A little more decorated with the Judy SL parts adjustment buttons, titanium brake sockets and titanium shaft bolts with adjustment button.
In addition, a Brodie-Brake-Booster to match the fork made of black magnesium.

By this, I changed some more, Flite Kevlar, Panaracer Blackwall, rear Brodie-Brake-Booster, onza ules and Bar-Ends came.

Was a good work before by the previous owner. That inspired me for the Team RTS now:
