Awesome Foursome Part 3 - Pace RC200 F1

Short of finding an XT mech for the road bike mount...shouldn't the period front mech be a Mavic braze on, like this;

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAVIC-862-Fr ... :rk:2:pf:0

That's what I had on my F1 (that Gil is now selling...). These are late '80's to mid '90's I believe and works of art.

I miss mine every time I come on here!!....and the F8.....and the RC300....

Re:

Cool thanks for that. Do you know if an XT with the road mount is actually a real thing?

If not the mavic looks good and would be a good reason to buy a matching headset. Is £35 for the one on eBay a fair price would you say?

Cheers, Matt

Re:

Here are the forks from dnbmatt28

It’s on the gold M737 / 217 Sunset Tim’s I have for sale but that is all set to change with the next post.....

Also the seatpost it came with and the Turbo saddle from minifreaks Yo. Both also set to change imminently.

Re:

And here are the new wheels, courtesy of Viengsavsnh

They are in great nick. It’s a real shame the anodising has come off the rear braking surface. Now need to decide, do I find an even better black Stheno, or another polished silver one to match the NOS one I already have? Either way a wheel rebuild is in order because the hub decal is not directly below the valve hole and the spoke lacing in the front is not the same as was done on a previous build so there are some spoke marking on the hub flange

Overall super pleased with these. Exactly as described in the listing.

How about some lovely Ritchey Vantage Expert rims on a black XT M732 rear hub and PACE black alloy front hub ;)

Maybe I should have mentioned these earlier, got a choice of Ritchey tan walls too.

Loving the NukeProof’s though and reckon with dark ano rims, black wall tyres and black components for the ‘murdered out’ look, this bike would be epic!

Re:

Oh Tim, how come you keep Tempting me with new parts you’re trying to get shot of! Go on then, send me some photos.

I’ve decided the Nuke Proofs are not the hubs for this bike, even though they look cool. Two reasons; 1) they’re American 2) ive just put them in the Bonty and they look even better on that than this

I’m thinking the black rims are staying though. Ideally I’ll fjnd s matching black / Ti nitride goldtec Rear hub to match the front

A nice x-lite seatpost came from ishaw today. Shaft needs a good polish but black anno Head is perfect, and as mentioned earlier in this thread, 27.0mm is the correct diameter. Only problem is at 350mm long with a chamfered bottom, there’s not really enough of it in the frame to risk using it like that so I’m thinking of splicing it together with another 27.0 post. May be more difficult and more effort than its worth but I always like a wacky solution. Just depends on whether I can find another post with the same inner and outer diameter and then another piece of tube the same outer diameter as the inner to act as an inner sleeve.

Hopefully some way towards sourcing a mavic headset, then I can measure up for the custom 1-piece stem-steerer to be made

Re:

What I did with my Mavic post which was too short was to get a fabrication shop to custom turn down a piece of aluminium billet to 27.0 and have some of it inserted and glued into the post with the rest adding length to the original post, heavy as heck but works

Matt, do you still need my black RC30s as assuming from the above you have sourced some? Also I have a set of Stheno polished 36h wheelet on black LX hubs (rear is 130mm), again not sure if this is what you are after or the same spoke count but give me a shout, Tom

And, very long shot, a 1-piece Pace Stem-steerer. Even if not for sale, I’d love to borrow it to see what it looks like and get a replica made - a suitable deposit would be supplied!

I have made several replicas for people in these parts...PM if interested.

All the best,
