I've recently bought a set, curious to know what advantage they offer over normal v brakes.

let me explain at least one
Avid Accu Push Rival and Supreme 1999.jpg
is to keep pads parallel to the rim sidewall

Force vector alignment is, as explained to keep both arms and pads but also the pressure symmetric to the wheel.

BTW I do love them, the Supreme of course even more

BTW, there was just in saison 2000 a SRAM V-Brake with an integrated composites booster available, also to keep both arms in parallel.

Supreme versions are the best rim brake I’ve used. So powerful when matched with ceramic rims and Avid ultimate levers.

Mine aren't Supremes. Not sure if it's just my connection but can't see the pics of the composite ones. Will try at home.

So basically these are avids take on the parallel linkage Shimano brakes. And I'd imagine the arch also acts a bit like a booster?

The arch has no effect as a booster as it pivots in the middle (and thus does nothing to keep the brake bosses rigid), but overall it's a better execution of the parallel linkage design that Shimano introduced as it doesn't go sloppy after five minutes.

Best Vs in my bike collection,
Even in my ownership.
Arch rivals braking on mavic Crossroc.
If I want better I have to go disco
