atm daily cash limit

hi,

i want to buy a car next week in GB (i'm from germany, so a "kraut" ).
now i'm not sure how to get the money.

the easiest and cheapest way is to get it at an atm. but my problem is, i don't know the daily limit at atm in GB. in germany it differs, the most banks have a limit of 1000€, some other banks 500€.

can someone help me??

It depends on your bank account. I have one account that gives me £200 max and another gives me £300. I think my credit cards can give £300.

well, my bank offers 10000€ in 29days...

in germany, i can get 1000€ every day until my card limit is exhausted, the limit her is the given limit of 1000€ by the atm owner, Deutsche Bank or who ever.


is there a similar limit??

I can withdraw any amount over the counter as long as the funds are in the account.
It may be different for you not having a UK account.
ATM limits were £350 per day last time I checked but that was a long time ago.
Try ringing the bank they'll tell you the best way.

Withdraw it over the counter, it's limitless.

Big over-the-counter withdrawals tend to need proof of ID and address these days though. Passport/driving licence plus a utility bill and you should be sorted.

I was in my branch last week and they now have chip and pin machines at the counter, no more paying in slips or withdrawl forms, everything was done with the card.
I guess they've not figured out what to do if someone has your pin.

taking out a maximum daily limit in a foreign country over more than a few days might set off security measures, I would inform my bank before doing this to avoid the card being locked, they might also suggest a sister bank in the uk for you to do a counter transaction

i called my bank: the guy said theer's only a limit of 10.000€ /29days.
i asked him for the limit of an atm and he answered i only have to use an other atm when the limit is hit.

i think i just try it with enougt money in my pocket for an exchange when it doesn't work.

In the UK the system updates in a few minutes so unless you have a street where there are several banks in a row (Gosforth high street for me) and you can get to 3 or 4 cash points with in 2 or 3 minutes you'll find the limit has been exceeded.
Is there no way the seller will do a bank transfer?, it only takes a phone call.
