Are you more respecting in your old age ?

Just a thought regarding that which this website is about, old bikes, are you more careful with your two wheeled machine now than you were bitd ?

Is it you have learned to respect what you have paid much money and invested much time in, or in your old age, you are aware when you fall off it hurts more, so don't do the things you did in the past ?

What is it, more respect for the tool, or yourself ?

I cycle as hard as I ever did (several broken bones this last couple of years to prove this   ), my retrobikes aren't so special I can't find replacement parts, so I hammer them just as hard. I can understand if your bike or the parts on it are rarer you'd want to take more care though.

i take a bit more care of me than i used to
well, till the red mist descends anyway , but still a wee bit more reserved

on the bike front I've always been a bit mechanically sympathetic

I am not more respectful but fear holds me back more than it used to. having kids and responsibilties really made a difference. A recent crash resulted in me buying loads of body armour and it stepped up my fear of air somewhat.

I'm a better rider now than BITD and possibly less feared than in the past because of aquired skills so bikes now lead a harder life. However as I now have several bikes as opposed to one each bike takes less hammering over a given period. :)

I have always respected my bikes, so no change there.

However, I dont take half as many risks as I used to. Hardly any jumping or riding drop offs.

I started taking more care when my dependants were born.

Second that. I don't try anything that could result in me needing to be fed through a tube. Trials and crazy technical riding days are over. Now I ride farther and not harder.

The side effect of that is...I break less crap! :D
