Are all square taper bb spindles the same tapers?

Re:

They're pretty wide at the entrance hole, not cracked. If you can mount, bolt and rude them then all is good if they don't rock or creak.

If not :-(

You can bodge with coke can shims. Stick one to each face of the taper with a (tiny) bit of grease. And carefully tighten.
It's not a permanent fix really.
You could also try liquid metal on the crank if you can get hold of it.

My gut feel is aluminium wont do it, better try using steel from baked bean cans, would be thicker, possibly steel from a sardine can lid be thinner, lots of epoxy to hold in plaice.

May or may not work but 1/2 hour wasted at most.

Make sure you have back up plan if you go on a ride and a crank comrs loose.

Dab a slot of paint on the crank in line with one on thr bolt and check regularly to see if it is coming undone.

Sounds a little fishy.

Re:

This doesn't seem to add up, the tapers look really mint. I'd expect to see some "bruising" around the inside face if they'd been wobbling around and the same if they'd had the sh*t tightened out of them.

^^^^^^^ my thoughts exactly, the metal has to have gone somewhere, usually would appear as a small bulge on the outer faces but i dont see it.

I have some middleburns like this. Tapers look good and apparently they never made JIS so it's quite strange.

Does anyone know the diameter difference for ISO and JIS? I know they are both 2 degree taper.
