Are all crown races largely the same? (With pics)

This is a job you could do yourself quite easily I think - I thought from the earlier posts that these would be pristine fork crowns but actually they are pretty worn. Home techniques will only add a scratch or two. At the back of each fork there is a small indent - that can help you insert a small screwdriver - and using a soft mallet you can loosen the crown race. Then gently insert the driver repeatedly working around the race.

Arrived in the week. Not sure it’s that great as I tried it on a scrappy RST I had lying around and the crown race remained firmly in place as the tool dug itself into the fork crown. Will try again.

Less than a tenner though so was worth a go

Gosh not good. Not had that experience myself. What hammer did you use? I use a pretty weighty rubber hammer. Also I give a sharp bang and then move it a bit and bang again - repeat…
 
It was just a normal hammer so probably gave it a bit more moo than necessary - but the race wasn’t budging. Have plusgassed the life out of it and will try again tomorrow
