I believe it says "Supplied by W. Oldham, Oldham Road, Middleton, Manchester". I grew up just off Oldham Road (in the 70s, early 80s) but I don't remember any W. Oldham. Neil Orrell and Gerry Shields were two local bike shops near Oldham Road. Neither strictly in Middleton, and I don't remember there being any serious bike shops in Middleton itself.

Do we get to see any more??

Thanks for your replies. This belonged to a friends dad who had just passed away. Apparently he belonged to a club in the 50’s & this bike is from that era. I want to restore it and give it back to my friend.

Some interesting old components on that! Please try and restore them too. They all should clean up OK.

But I think you may need some new tyres.................

Lovely. I wonder if he was in Middleton CC or Manchester Wheelers. I'll ask father if he remembers any bike shop of that name in Middleton. Before my time, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't there by the late 70s.

looks like a road racers bike from late 40s to early 50s.. The Williams chainset might have a date , both on cranks and chainring. The Simplex T d F was common til the mid 50s. It is not the early version, from memory about 1950 on but may not be original. Pedals probably not original.
Bluemels quick release mudguard eyes were used upto early 50s.

On the rear dropout pic, what is the vertical part at the front of the dropout that goes down? What purpose is it for?
