Anyone know how this freewheel comes off?

Oh there'll be skinned knuckles if it slips wear some gloves they'll keep some of the skin on your pinkies attached.

Think of what bear trap pedals do to your shins when you slip a pedal it's like that

Do do have quite a lot of thread visible..

Worth a go getting the cassette off, sometimes you get lucky and it comes apart easily, sometimes they are lick every Suntour MD cassette and destined never to be removed (they use a screw on end cog(s), but two stuck together).

The freehub comes of like a normal freehub, axle out, allen key in.

Aaand let the over thinking begin

10mm Allen key gets that Uniglide cassette and freehub off, once you have removed the perfectly boring standard axle

Don’t throw anything away

What do you want from the wheels?

If you want to stay with 6 or 7 speed, lob a 7spd freehub body on it, rebuild the axle, 7spd cassette and off you go

But wait! Vintage looks but with more speeds! With the uniglide freehub body sat on the side worrying about its future, you can now fit an 8/9/10spd freehub body which would then give you 8/9/10spd shifting options

Yes, you will have to redish the wheel to recentre it and yes you will have to play around with the axle and spacers to suit the frame fitting but, hey, who cares, you got more gearz innit!

*for the record, swapping uniglide for hyperglide has me witnessed at under half an hour, that includes dishing and respacing and I do have a small collection of uniglide cassettes still stuck to the bodies.

*plus, I have a couple of spare axles and 7spd freehubs if you need any
