Anyone know how this freewheel comes off?

It's a cassette, so you're taking the sprockets off the freehub body.
As @benjabbi sez, you lock the back group of sprockets and then top gear unscrews off the freehub threads like a fixed.
You could remove the freehub with the sprockets on, by first removing the axle to access the hex bold holding it onto the hub shell.

Pedaling force tightens the lock sprocket, freewheel prevents it untightening

Yeah as @bikeworkshop says above, Uniglide cassette. No need for a lockring, that small sprocket gets bastard tight through use!

Looks like you've got 6 speed.
Probably 126 dropout width.
This presents several problems, all of which can be resolved.
You want 7 speed HG, internal lockring?

No, UG is six speed. You can fit an 7 speed HG cassette on some UG hubs. The wheel will need redishing and respacing.
