I'm genuinely curious. Is this simply a home made bodge, or are there people offering (and willing to stand by) this kind of repair? [I'm aware of frames made out of bamboo]

Yeah it's a "thing". Not too different from other bonded frames really... Alu/carbon, ti/steel, bamboo/steel.
Unusual though.

Ah, could be. That was his much hated cousin, I believe, there was no love lost between them! But CK was the good guy, from what I hear.... :roll:

They were never cousins. Just coincidentally had similar (not identical) names. And the one I think you are referring to as possibly bodging a frame together no longer lives in the area.
