Anyone else suddnly just decided to clear the lot

I have thought about selling a number of my bikes. Currently got 9 bikes, 4 modern and 5 retro, I dont think I can bring myself to sell any of them. I might not really use the retro ones but they are the bikes I wanted whenI was younger and it took a age to track them down and buy them.

i've just had my biggest clear out yet. i looked in the shed, decided i like it all, shut the door and came back inside.....easy!!!

The biggest problem is threads like these. Gets me thinking I wonder what nice bits will come out of hiding and be up for sale

Garcon? Another shed for monsieur. Maintenant!

i've started to clean up my spares a little. only have 2 bikes anyway, but have backups and spares for back ups that have left a nice trail of plastic carrier bags all over the flat and old shoe boxes and jiffy bags stuffed under the bed :)
decided to have 2 fully built bikes with only 'essential' spares in storage (such as rear mech hangers, tubes, shifters, wheel set, tyres, bars, stems, brakes, chains, rim tape, cranks, pedals, bottom brackets,cassettes...... )

I just need to have a tidy up, not a clear out....

I am tempted with a rebuild of the Mrs' Claude Butler Ladydale from '81 ish, only needs some decent bars, controls and saddle, but most of my spares are limited to just the essentials.
One benefit of my wife is that she has an at times obsessional aversion to clutter, which has merely demonstrated to me that I dont need to keep hanging on to tatt in the fear that I will need it "one day" (although I do have 2 sets of wheels, a spoiler, a steering wheel, speakers, and half a body kit for a car that I no longer have)!!!

I had two major "rationalisations" in the past - of old stuff and new - both financially motivated. One to fund a late return to m'cycles and the second for a whole new start in life and love (which failed).

More recently I've sold some odds and ends and a few complete bikes and also started just slinging all the "might need it one day" tat. Made easier by knowledge that I'm unlikely to be able to cycle more than another 18 - 24 months and fact that 20 miles about my maximum ride. Still got 4 bikes, spare wheels and replacement parts - shall get it down to 2 bikes plus 1 spare set of wheels in next few months. Only problem is which to keep.

There are many bikes of which I think "I really shouldn't have sold THAT....", but of course most were sold to buy something that at the time seemed "better", so I couldn't still have them all.

At least now I know that NO bike will make me cycle further or faster or with more pleasure - so cheap is the order of the day. My current favourite ride is the cheapest bike I have ever owned.

If you really want to declutter, just do it. Price them all to sake and sell them all simultaneously - that way avoids any second thoughts!
