I have just flogged the modern Carrera (great price) so I now have a fully retro fuly GT fleet !!

Anyone else got rid of their modern stuff completely ?
Any pitfalls to running old gear fulltime ?

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on which way you look at it!), my current financial situation (ie. skint!) means that I'm all retro too.

All 1 of my bikes are pre 1993 ;)

Saying that, if I managed to save up a good chunk of money to spend on a bike, I'd ALWAYS look at going retro first. You just get so much more fun for your money!

my 2010 inbred has just gone on ebay leaving me with a full fleet of all old bikes.

sadly the newest is 1999 which by my own definition isnt retro. but some would say it is. so yes and no from me

up until a few minutes ago I only owned Pre '90 but I have just agreed to buy a ride of '91 vintage :D

edit - in fact looking at the "other 2 wheeled vehicles" in the shed, there's nothing that's newer than '91

There's something quite exhilarating about giving up the more is better mentality of nine or ten cogs, disc brakes and smart suspension; I've done it myself. You've crossed a line that says the ( commercial ) world is WRONG. Avoiding the " traders " and " boutique " stuff you find you're still mountainbiking at your same, beloved, speed but at a fraction of the cost. LOVE IT!

I've been fully retro for over a year now, since I sold my modern P7, I do miss it but you get a lot of bang for your buck with older mtb's, so I'm happy to have 2 or 3 older machines instead of one new spangly one :D

All retro, as I've never had a "Modern bike". Well some of them were more modern when I brought them but apparantly time moves on...

I only had a modern bike in 1990 when I bought my Stumpjumper. Last week I bought a Cannondale from 1998. That's my most modern bike at the moment! ...........
