The Fox RP23 on my recently acquired Mondraker is weeping like a fat lad with no cake!!
A little on the shaft and a lot from behind the top blue adjustment lever.
I'd like it to have a full strip and rebuild.
Does anybody on here do this sort of work or as a hobby?
Failling that i will have a bash myself.

IIRC the main shaft seal is part of a kit and fairly easily serviceable by the home mechanic.
not 100% sure if the adjuster seal is part of that kit, or if you are into the internal service (which on most models, is pretty much a service centre only job and was about 80 quid last i looked, but you'll pretty much get a new shock back when its finished.)

Plenty of guides on the net, just remember to depressurise it before you open it (rather than while it's being opened!)

Look out for the nitrogen chamber as well. Thats pretty much a dealer only job.

Hmmm.....ive got it completely apart, other than the internal oil transfer tubes, and no sign of anywhere for any nitrogen.
As far as i can tell its oil in the bottom and air in the top??
I've got a full seal kit on the way......at £40!!!!....suppose i better do some further research before i rebuild it.

:) would probably have been worth checking which version/vintage you had before stripping it!

(They don't all have nitrogen chambers.)

Re:

Its got one right at the very bottom.
I shall modify a shraeder valve to fit the filling hole and fill it with ordinary are which is after all 70% odd nitrogen.
All seems pretty straight forward really....i was a bit surprised that a full seal kit is nearly £40 i guess that makes £90 for a full service a more reasonable prospect.

I rebuilt 2 X fusion shocks earlier this year. It was easy enough and they now work like new! Pressurising the bottom is, I'm led to believe, a luxury rather than a necessity. There was no chance of me doing it with my shocks and I haven't noticed any difference. I have Fox on another bike and they don't have pressure at the bottom.

Thanks thats good to know.
I can pressurise it with my compressor to about 150psi as there is a one way valve behind the filling port.
Still waiting on seals.
How do you find the X Fusion shocks compared to the Fox?
