Any reason I can't use this on an MTB fork?

Description states for 1 1/8 road fork but can anyone think why I can't use this on an MTB fork with a carbon steerer?

I can't think why not, they only preload the headset and don't actually hold anything together. You might have a problem if the inside diameter of the fork is greatly different?

Thanks. Is a 1 1/8 steerer not always the same diameter internally then?

I wouldnt think so. 1" steerers would be 1" bung and 1 1/8" would be 1 1/8" bungs. The only variable i see is if the internal diameter of a carbon steerer(that this is for) is different to a steel or alloy steerer.
I know the wals on alloy is thicker than steel leaving the internal diameter narrower. I dont know if carbon is thinner or thicker, but if its designed for carbon and youre fitting it to carbon(you didnt state), then I would think its correct from the off.

Re:

I use similar on some of my bike, they work well.
In fact if I ever use Syncros stems then I use them, everything is rigid and aligned, which help the angled top caps out.
Star it's can be out of alignment are are easy to bend.

Much better in Alu steerers too, so I use 1" in 1-1/8".

Just check the dimensions of each bit.

If you search their site you'll find the same thing but PlanetX and currently more expensive. It is the top part that needs to sit snug in the steerer

Both say you need to choose the Silver version for MTB forks, yet there is no choice. The fatty version is separate.

I would send them an email and ask them what the ID range is for it.

Have a look at alternatives on CRC and their reviews. I know BrandX do some.
