Any Photoshop experts? Decal help needed...

i just used the polygonal lasso tool to remove the background and cut away whatever wasnt needed to leaving it transparent, then layer the white underneath.
Ideally it'd need to be redrawn in illustrator for best results and a cleaner black outline as it's quite bity. getting the fade to look original is another matter i guess..

Aeronaut I think thats the best so far! But actually I think I'm going off the 'newspaper print' or I guess pixelated look of the original scan.

In a way this frees me up to just mess about more with fades and layers etc. Now how do I get every bit of white in the B&W image to become transparent?

BobCatMax you are speaking a language I don't understand! But I have learned a bit just from messing about...

You can use the magic wand to select the white but i find it hit and miss sometimes, plus don't like relying on tools too much... so best to use the polygonal lasso tool to cut it away and delete it for good.
Just take your time with it, zoom right in and cut away what you don't need.

make sure the image is on a new layer so it can worked on it, and that theres a transparent layer beneath that you can colour white.

The way the fade looks is from the print process and not by the way it was coloured, so a good fade will work. Might be worth trying to getting it printed the same way maybe, whichever way it was done unless you just want it flat.

good luck! :)
