Why are the brakes reversed on European bikes, so left is front and right is rear? It seems natural to have the right hand for the front brake whatever side of the road you are on. Do left handed people reverse their brakes?

I do believe that UK is only country on the planet where front brake is on the right (although I've never ridden a bike in Japan!) and even Sir Wiggo and cronies have front brake left.

and the Barnett Bible sayeth:

"It is normal that the cable from the right lever go to the rear brake....Anyone that has ever ridden a bike with handbrakes expects the right lever to operate the rear brake; it would be dangerous to surprise someone with a bike that had levers set up opposite to the norm"

Why is it called "Rush Hour" - the part of the journey where people travel the slowest due to congestion - thus not able to rush? - unless of course your on a bike
