Any Land Rover fans in?

I like the person who said it looks like Skoda Yeti  Anther Chelsea tractor

Mingin' but that's 'modern' design for you.

What the hell was wrong with a Series 1?

al.

Something had to give - Land Rover have lost so much business over the last few years, when people started realising that although Landies are great when they are working, they are bloody useless when they aren't!!!

As an example my dad used to send lots of Landies and parts down to the Falklands.... now they all drive around in Land Cruisers as, to quote "They never break down"!!!!

Series 1s eh? They were the ones you could fix with rocks weren't they? Then some clever chap started putting complicated bits in......

I am going to wait until I get up close to decide on it, but so far I am expecting to be disappointed.

Doesn't look like you can bolt on and off much of it, so I think the backwards compatibility of previous models will be much missed and give one less reason for previous faithful to 'upgrade' with a Land Rover rather than one of the twenty other similar modern boxes.

I know at least one person who will be getting one, so I should get a go of one when it finally arrives.

A lot of people who buy these will be like my cousin. She bought a new Disco, which I thought was extravagant, but she has stables so I let it pass. Three months after buying it she had bought an older one for towing the horses, as she didn't like to get the new one 'dirty'. The most it has seen of off road use has been a few farm tracks and grass fields at events.

Farmers have long moved on from Land Rovers, and I think their remaining markets will do so as well. Leaving only the posers. Luckily for Land Rover there are still plenty of them.

I would not be surprised at all if they offer a two wheel drive version.

As a fromer owner of a series 2, 2x series 2a's and a Defender (90) that thing is wronger than a wrong thing in wrong town on the wrong day of the week on the wrong day of the month of the year in the wrong century!!!
I don't like it, as soon as i saw the picture i thought "skoda yeti"

sorry about that... but it's as bad as taking a small euro box car and putting a Mini badge on it therefore making it a Mini, or another ugly little euro box and writing Beetle on it so it must be a beetle..... oh hang on a mo some people did that too

By all means Landrover move with the times but cut the horse doin's and don't give out all the rubbish about styling ques from it's predecessor and all that junk, just make a new model with a new name

Sorry again, rant over

Why sit on the fence?

Seriously though, if I was head of design at LR I would be keen to keep as many of the key notes of the original as possible, because that is practically all that sells Defenders to a lot of the market.

They could have made a very rugged and macho machine based on the Defender, this will end up confusing buyers because it looks less rugged than the Disco.
