Any info on this - U.S.A. Raider

Noticed this today for sale locally and spotted that it had a Mountain LX drive train which may come in handy for my 89 Bear Valley restore. As it was up for less than the price of a couple of pints I took a punt, from the picture I had no idea what make or model it was and it was certainly not something I recognised. Turns out it's a U.S.A. Raider whatever that is. It's obviously fairly low rent, black painted rims for starters, but the only concession to what would have been a full Mountain LX groupset is the Exage Trail canti's. Frame is Tange DB the same as the Bear Valley. So just out of curiosity really does anyone have any info on these. Can't help thinking it was some spin off from another manufacturer to have some cheaper bikes but under a different brand. A very quick google images search showed another in a gumtree ad for a much more expensive £35 :D

Re:

you could be on to something. I've seem a few retro Peugeot frames with mostly the sane decals aside from the brand name so maybe it was just different branding for different markets?

Re:

I have a similar USA branded bike, in my case it's a Renegade. I don't really have any info on the brand and could find little to nothing online. I would refer to it as a'department store' bike, a rebadged off the shelf frame, so to speak. It's a nice bike though, the Renegade frame is double butted Tange tubing and it came with a full Deore II (MT-62) groupset.
