Any info on the frame builder Wes Mason?

Same fella. One of the MKM frame building partnership then had his own shop in Harrogate after 1980 when MKM stopped. Early MKM's were branded either Wes Mason or Arthur Metcalfe and when he had the shop he had 'Wes Mason' branded frames as well.

Have a look on the MKM website -

http://www.mkm-cycles.co.uk/

Some info there.

And the old advert below.

I met Wes again last September at the Newport Nocturne evening race, he's living in North Wales now.

Arthur Metcalf set them up with Wes Mason (the 2 M's). Ron Kitching provided some funding for it from what I've read and was the landlord of Chapel works where they made the frames.

The chap who runs http://www.mkm-cycles.co.uk tells me that he has a register of 58 MKMs that are left.

My father in law gave me his 1976(ish) Wes Mason Professional, frame number 4672. I'm not that keen on the colour though and was considering getting it resprayed with new decals.

Blimey.......was there nothing Ron Kitchen didn't have his finger in back in those days LOL
