hi guys any idea what this frame is ? all i know its got nervex lugs and was given to the previous owner in the mid to late 70s

Interesting braze on for centre-pull 'hanger'. If some of the paint was carefully stripped/scraped off (it doesn't look in places that its is all that well done) you may reveal a name or a logo?

It looks like it was once quite nice before the Smurfs got to it! Was it silver?

I only just worked out the route of the rear brake cable from the stop on the underside of the top tube through the seat tube. That looks like a clue to a definitive identification and is certainly not a mass produced feature or one I've ever seen before (though that's not saying a great deal). The mudguard eye in the rear dropout is also pretty unusual (and rather elegant I think).

What are your plans for it and will we be able to follow along here?

hi well i want to find out what it is before i start but i want to restore it as best i can
just drawing blanks at the mo so i have no idea what it is

That's an interesting and unusual bit of kit. I've seen plain seat pillars with capped off ends before but the brake cable slot is a new one on me. I would imagine that there is sufficient safety margin in a typical micro adjustable pin to be able to replicate that slot - which after all is below the clamping point so it's not like drilling a bunch of holes in the top section. Of course you could fit that original item and with some abrasive and polish it could look quite respectable; I just think the ability to put the saddle in the right place is worth sacrificing a little originality.

I feel sure one of the Retro Bike frame experts will recognise some of these distinctive details soon.
I wonder if those Campagnolo hubs are original? You could do worse than kit it out with a matching gear train. Brakes would be high on my list to get right but as you suggest, until you get an idea of who built it, it's all guesswork. Sorry I can't help with that.
