Any experience with shipping UK to Germany?

Hi,

I might purchase a bike in the UK and would like to ship it to Germany. Has anybody any experience with shipping to Central Europe? Does anybody know, how much that is? What company should I use (UPS, DHL)? …

The problem I found with shipping stuff to and fro is the sizings of the parcels. Most companies have a 1.2m limit, so you might need to split it down into two boxes, one for the frame and one for the wheels.

If you are flying back and forward just put the bike in a box from a shop and take it to the airport. Its a lot easier and cheaper, the budget airlines will charge you around £20 to do this.

i sent a frame kit to germany, was about £35 iirc took about 3 days through interparcel

I am doing it bit by bit, starting with the Isle Of Wight.


Interparcel are pretty good. DHL excellent too.

Costs depend entirely on how well you pack it to keep the dimensions small, and the level of insurance you need.

I have had no problems at all with many hundreds of high value items sending by all the major companies.

Germany has a great postal system, they seem to work really well.

Probably around 30 Euros given compact packing.

I usually send guitar amps so no problems making them fit a box.
