Answer Manitou Query

I have recently bought a pair of Manitou forks in need of tlc.

Upon opening, I find that most of the original elastomer stacks have beem removed.

Unfortunately the metal spacing washers have been put back in situ but are stuck in the gloopy remains at the bottom of the lowers.

How do I clean out the gloop and retrieve them please?

I used hot water, a long spiky thing to prod with and lots of patience.
