Another unexpected Daccordi gets added to my flock of road frames

Good Afternoon
Well sometimes , it is stronger than us but the willingness to acquire another frame is hard to resist. While I promised myself not to acquire a single frame after my Giant Kronos purchase, I saw something special at a bargain price. It was a rare and flamboyant Daccordi Megatube Alloy. It doesn't have the Columbus Altec like my Top Alloy but it uses the same alloy that my Daccordi Fly used, the fork is also a custom made one with matching color (not sure if steel or aluminium). I will have to do some minor touch ups regarding paint but nothing dramatic. Overall the same quality and craftsmanship except the tubing which is custom made. Projects for it will be Dura Ace 7800 Drive Train, Carbon Crank and Zipp wheels.
Have a nice day
Very best regards and stay safe
Georges

Looks alot like the megatube Carrera frames built by Podium. There was one on eBay recently(may still be there) in Asics team colours and i think it shares alot of features. Maybe built by Podium?

No they were not built by Podium but they were entirely made by Daccordi, for these reasons:
-the finish of welds on carrera aluminium welds were not as smooth and as well executed as on daccordi and at the bottom bracket junction the welds on carrera frames were left unpolished whereas on Daccordi they were polished using the Uniblock Brazing System
on my Daccordi Top Alloy bottom bracket junction

-the 1998 Carrera Asics Team Bike used Extralight alumnium 7020 for the frame unlike Daccordi who used alumium 5086
-another Carrera Hercules frame for sale welds are nice but not at the same level than on my Daccordi
-another Carrera Hercules with ugly welds and rear carbon stays again no mention of what tubing is used and the welds on it are truely ugly
-a very rare Carrera Time Trial bike frame this one features Columbus Altec but welds weren't polished at the bottom bracket junction
Daccordi is an independant brand and never subcontrated the construction of its frame, all the frame were and are made by Luigi Daccordi Important thing about Daccordi I quote :"
Often the idea for a new bike takes shape while travelling the world, observing and comparing to what we know as reality. These ideas are then developed in our workshop, designed and customized for each customer. The final product is then placed in the hands of the Daccordi craftsman, Luigi himself. All frame production takes place at Daccordi to keep a close eye on all production phases. Our craftsmanship is paired with innovative technologies which allow for complete product control for the final product itself, the bicycle. The tubing is cut and shaped according to bike size, then they go on to the bonding or welding stage, depending on the material used to build the frame. Materials used for the frame can be carbon fiber, steel, titanium, or aluminum. The frame is refined and accurately checked, then prepared for the delicate painting process, which takes place in a specific area of our factory. Lastly, the frame is polished and then equipped with the best quality components, and adjusted to meet the cyclist’s needs."

the urge formaluminum is strong, i see
Well, I did bargain purchases with aluminium frames and properly taken care of, they will last you a long time. I have several aluminium road and mountain bike frames that are more than 20 years old but which aren't showing their age. I already have also my bunch of steel framed bikes. I am not into carbon or titanium bikes. A well made aluminium bike frame with the right tubing will provide you enjoyment over the long run.

The Daccordi is a cool company. His daughter runs it now. i would have it resparayed
Well no, if it was in really bad condition , I would have but the paint chips were minor. A respray is 600$ . I already repainted chips on some frames I had which were very minor. I did this on my Trel 6700SLR, on my Trek 6500SLR, on my Giant Bronco, Trek 2300SL, on my Dacccordi Top alloy, on my Pinarello Stelvio and on my Basso Viper. If a frame is completely scratched and completely full of paint chips, then I would have gone through this route but the frames I have bought were and are from very good condition to mint condition, so I don't spend money on respray. Plus this bike is going to be a restomod, not a hangar queen, so no restoration on it. The bike frame in the video has less smoother welds than on mine and the seat stays are carbon even though it is a nice bike frame, it doesn't have the uniblok brazing system. The welds on mine are in excellent condition and the threads in the bottom bracket are in very good condition too, for me this is what matters. Of course , everyone is different when making a build.
