My hubbie used the caustic soda method on a stuck stem, sawed most of it off to get the forks out of the frame and just dipped the forks and stem into a jar of caustic, we weren't too particular about the mix, just some and some, worked a treat though. Although a lot of the mix ran into the lawn and there now is a patch where the soil has gone really spongy.
