I remember Pete Dunn at Cottingham Cycle Centre near Hull telling me that he had seat pins for the carbon frames. He had one for sale virtually NOS that I coveted but managed to resist. It was a couple of years ago but might be worth a call. I don't think he's there every day but they'll tell you when he is.

And he did have one! well its on its way. Its not the Vitus Rubis one but a sliver micro adjust, Im really not too picky as it beats using the steel chrome one I have. Many thanks for the tip off really appreciated :D

Great news! Glad I could help. It was a bit of a long short - but it worked.

How's the jersey signing going?

Slowly with that, need to pick it up with Mr Hayles in the new year! you'll be the first to know , I'm confident it will happen ;-)

Great build have wanted one for years but they seem to be as rare as hens teeth. Graham Weigh was the importer of Vitus and went in the shop as a kit to drool. Boardman also rode one badged up as a Graham Weigh

Well, I found some time and built it up. Essentially its a transplant of parts from my blue 979 build see here viewtopic.php?f=23&t=246927 but I sourced a braze on part to change my front mech to braze on from band on and got another Mavic BB and used a Stronglight headset. The only real pain is the seatpost that still eludes me. Pete Cottingham cycles sent me one that was smaller than the required 23.0mm and it was cut down so short its unuseable so Ive fitted a chrome steel one with standard clamp so I can ride it :-( So the plea goes out again, does anyone have a 23.0mm microadjust seatpost or narrower thats long enough for me to use? any help or offers considered, might have to be a lathe but I dont really want to do that.

Tremendous DD - great looking bike, that's turned out superbly.

Wounder on the seatpost front, no easy solution to that, well apart from plenty of patience.

Is the carbon bare or did you get it lacquered at all?

Cheers , couldnt be bothered with the lacquer in the end ,time will tell, but it needs to be ridden. Had a discussion with Stringfellow today, and I do agree with him that really its too small for me for the period but actually the seatpost in the picture is about 2cm higher than it should be, also it fits me really well reach wise. Pity winter has finally arrived in the peak district, as soon as the roads are remotely dry I'll be riding it.

Weight is 18lbs with a steel seatpost..not bad!

Wheelbase does look short, what length is the TT? Perception would be that it'll be a very nimble ride with sharp handling. 18lbs - that's very decent indeed.

Indeed I used to race an Alan carbon 9 1cm larger in the early 90's with similar geometry with Campag chorus 8 speed dual pivot etc , great in crits and time trials, I'll measure the top tube later
