I wonder, if a seller has a reserve on an item and you bid but don't reach the reserve, are you still obliged to buy the item?

Nah,

You've gotta hit the reserve for the item to sell, otherwise it just goes unsold. So have a low bid, under the assumption you'll never win it. And if it turns out you do go over the reserve, you've got a bargain, right? Just don't bid too close to your threshold, you might end up with something you were just curious about... i've played that game.

ask what the reserve is - a lot of the time they'll tell you. It doesn't have to be a secret.

it is no secret at all,its purely there to make sure they dont end up giving the item away.it REALLY draws me out when sellers act like its the worlds best kept secret :twisted: :twisted:
