Yawn. Yes I know yet another thread...

Doblo number one is on its last legs.

I need to replace it with something, heck another doblo would do but they've been found out and the buggers are expensive!

I do around 800 miles a week, paid at 26p a mile. So I need something economical and reliable. I drive mostly on A roads and dual carriageways. It being the world it is, nothing too small as I'll get blown off the road by all the bloody Audis! I don't carry many tools but need a bit of space and comfort.

Been looking at old E300 and E300 TD Mercs and C250. Plus my friend covers similar mileage in an old E220 Coupe on Lpg but they are a bit thin on the ground.

I should mention budget is a poultry £1500
Well, anyway anything else?

Dare I say it ....

Berlingo

Ours has the 1.6HDI engine and gets 50+ mpg around town, 65+ mpg on long runs. Comfortable to drive, very spacious and surprisingly sprightly if asked.

With my reputation, I could mention all the cars that I think are good and you could then avoid every one of them and know your onto a winner

From bitter experience and various and numerous reviews on the interweb i would steer well clear of the 1.6HDi unless you want big bills. My Berlingo was great until it ate its cambelt, camchain and turbo which apparently is a common fault due to oil starvation and the need for more frequent oil changes with low sulphur oil. All the other Berlingo's are great.
