Annoying Thing #103,899: Missing plastic plug from an XTR M900 Shifter

They're like hen's teeth, or rocking horse manure (take your pick).

I still have the plugs that came in my shifters on a new bike, but the shifters I bought secondhand were missing the plugs.

Allowing for slight compression of the plug during photographing, the part of the plug that goes in the shifter hole is an ellipse, with major and minor axes approximately 7mm x 6mm. Similarly, the part of the plug that you see when it's installed is an ellipse with major and minor axes approximately 9mm x 7.25mm.

By the way, these measurements are for a plug from an XT ST-M095 unit, but I'm sure they're the same as XTR M900 plugs.

Right ... when I sold a full XTR groupset the thing I was able to say was ‘...and it has the incredibly rare rubber cable hole plugs which everyone loses by prizing them off only to find they ping into a part of the workshop never to be found again...’.

You know, I think I remember you saying this!

;)

And great link too! Thanks 2Many!
