And today I did......

Tonight I sourced, right here on this very forum, an elusive Sunn head-tube badge. This is good news. Now I just have to decide which of the 3 Sunns to put it on.... the hardtail is a real rider so it's probably in last place, the roadbike is an option, but I'm trying to make the xchox a real looker, so it's in the lead at the moment, but that might change...

.

I really like that, top work- will it be ready for the peaks?

Aye, that's the plan Gazz. Shake it down this weekend or more likely next. Glad ye had a good night riding, weather looked like it cleared up just in time?

Dr S,

Dr S - do you have any specialist kit for repsraying your bikes... or do you use spray cans? Tempted to re-spray my old orange (currently matt black). Obviously powder coating would be best, but a couple of cans of spray and some lacquer would be far cheaper - n'est ce pas!

Thoughts?

Specialist kit dude. I use 2 pack paint which gets cured in an oven (I'm building a bake box though as I have to wait for the paint shop next door to fire up their oven; firing it up for just a frame is too £££).

I also have access to powder coating gear. I like this method as it is very hardwearing. I usually do one thin coat in powder as a base for toughness and then add detail or other colours on top followed by a 2 pack laquer and bake.

Nice work on the Strangelove stuff TK. Cheers!

I think we aught to start a thread somewhere to keep allthis bike building nonsense from clogging up this thread though.

I'm ordering some tubes and lugs today to make my second frame. First frame is almost finished. ;)

Tonight I cut down the 1" steerer on the Mozo Pros for the xchox. With a blunt hacksaw blade, it felt like I was eroding them to fit! They're now on the bike and I threw the wheels on to see what it looks like as a rolling chasis. I think it's looking promising, although the forks may be a bit long, what with their massive 63mm travel. Short of sourcing some original sunn bouncy forks in 1" flavour I'm not going to get anything more suitable though, so they'll have to do!

Going to finish the build over the rest of the weekend, although I can't find the thumbies I had earmarked for it, so a trip to the bikestation tomorrow morning may be in order.

Beat a Ferrari F355 off the lights and maintained the lead all the way down the hill, he beat me on the ascent but gave me a nod!
