And today I did......

Re:

At weekend I did a good chunk of the blue route plus Janets Brae climb at Glentress...........on my single speed, full rigid bike !

Even more impressive was the fact I did it on a classic 2:1 gear ratio instead of my usual wimps 1.6:1 on a bike that with the best will in the world will never be less than 26-27lbs.

I have vowed to ride single speed all winter so that by my next single speed event I might get another lap in

Way to go Velo! I don't know the route but I would imagine a blue route at Glentress would be a fair workout.
Keep up the singlespeed love :)

Re:

sounds great velo.

i canna get up Janets with gears never mind SS.

we should have a winter singlespeed run at GT over the winter i reckon.

Be a good idea, winter and single speed do go together.

Didn't get up the steepest section of Janets Brae but I can work on that. Coming back down though I reckon I hit 30mph which on a rigid rim braked bike on loose surfaced corners is a big adrenaline hit !

No Rob, you need to be in there, or someone does :) (ie: a mod)
Its a friggin free for all with newbies posting ebay ads everywhere and complete bikes in the bits section, it chaos. I know I am not the only one and a few have left here because of it being a bit uncontrolled.
But...... if you need to stay out because you have bought another roadie then that's no excuse either, as now you will need the bits for it etc, and the company of other likeminded (ie: sad ) individuals ;) :) :)

Re:

Today I had a wee look at the European Single speeds in Slovenia as I got a facebook message saying tickets were now available. Having looked at the prices that event is now scored off my to do list. $300 for 2 nights camping and 3 days of the event, thats nearly double what the UK event was and yet the UK is meant to be one of the most expensive countries in the EU !

Then of course there is getting there in that the town/village is no where near an airport.

I know Slovenia is a great wee country, I've been there twice but $300 seems a bit steep for getting sloshed in a field, oh and a bit of the cycle racing lark

Mind you maybe its a typo or translation software error as why price it in dollars in a Euro country ?

I put down my pre registration as well Velo, but haven't seen the prices yet. If that's right then that's me definitely out. It will cost a fair bit to get there if flying then driving, or just driving.

Hi Velo
What did the message say?
I didn't get a message but have pre registered and haven't heard anything. I have even looked all over the site and facebook and cannot find any mention of prices.
