Oh the fun, a bargain ebay purchase of a pair of mavic rims/stout hub wheels turned out not to be a bargain when they 'forgot' to mention in the advert they were 2 front wheels
So i thought, 'hay do's' i'll but this 24 seven singlespeed rear hub on the for sale thread on retrobike and lace it up to the mavic x223 rim one of the wheels had and run my explosif singlespeed(sliding rear dropouts '07).
Quick calc to figure out what length spokes i need and a trip to the LBS. shock horror  and £32 later!! i walked away with 32 single butted spokes. Somehow when i bought some plain spokes from another bike shop for 30p each i kinda figured butted ones would be a tad more... lol not 3x more per spoke!
Anyway, so Sheldonbrown.com and alot of headscratching later i got my wheel built up. Trued up in all directions, and about the right tension, all i need to do now is fit the discs, tyres and remove all the gear stuff. Back to basics, so to speak.
Does anyone else seem to do stuff like this in their spare time? I seem to have an awful lot of 'stuff' that sucks up most of my time, sometimes i yearn for the day when i just have one bike and i'm happy with it, instead of...cough...10 bikes i'm forever chopping, changing, replacing, adjusting, servicing etc till the cows come home.
