ANC Halfords Peugeot production/sale dates

Hello everyone,

Can anyone out there advise what years the ANC Halfords Peugeots were in production? I have just recently obtained one for restoration with a view to participating in next year's L'Eroica.

Just to add that I won't be totally surprised if it's post 1987 and therefore ineligible, but that will give me another valid excuse to buy another bike! ;)

Hi,

so the white team bikes were ridden during the '86 and '87 season. I'm fairly sure that the Peugeot factory had nothing to do with them, but someone may know better.

In terms of production Peugeots... I need a picture to help with a positive identification, but bikes in the general style of the ANC Halfords machines were built from around '85 (by which I mean striped top and seat tube decals, as opposed to checker board).

Peugeot specs varied considerably by country, but in the UK brochures the first sighting of a white bike is the `Robert Millar Autograph' - a lower end sports bike in the '85 catalogue.

I don't have access to a UK dated '87 brochure, but the '88 brochure has the `Aravis' which could be ordered in ANC like white with `Pro Tream' decals.

I have a Gunetal Grey `Aneto' 531 Pro frame which was sold on it's own (depite there being a far less expensive `Aneto' 501 framed bike in the '88 catalogue which I believe was from '87. Prior to this these frames were called `Professional'. These were plentiful back in the day. I have brochure on files that might date from '86 or '87 (t's the one that has has Mavic, 3TTT Wolber compenents in as well) that describes the `Professional frame as being available in White as well (it's looks great and I'm considerng getting either my Aneto, or my 753 Perthus fame refinished to white.

So there's good chance you're l'eroica legal, but if you'd care to provide pictures I can probably tell you more.
